GET TO KNOW OUR STAFF
Say hello to JJAB's newest Resource Specialist, Jamie Allbach! Jamie joined the JJAB team in November of 2022 and is a licensed K-12 educator who has a wealth of experience in nonprofit work.
What drew you to JJAB?
I wanted to more directly serve families in the community. I see so much potential in a medium sized organization to deeply impact the community.
What are you looking forward to the most with working for JJAB?
Seeing families overcome really hard circumstances, and rooting for them while they do it.
What is your favorite thing about working with Youth?
I'm really inspired by youth! They often have a curiosity about the world that helps me see things with fresh eyes. I enjoy spending time with them and hearing the ways in which they see things, often incorporating a strong sense of justice into their perspectives.
Have you always lived here?
No. For the first 33 years of my life I lived in Asheville, North Carolina. I moved around the west to different National Parks and public lands, for my partner's job. That’s what brought me here.
What are some of your interests and hobbies?
Camping and hiking are things I intend to do way more often than I actually get to do them. Most weekends I'm just trying to get my home clean while listening to true crime podcasts. I also work with survivors of sexual trauma and domestic violence through an organization called Strong In Nature.
Do you have any kiddos of your own? Who all is in your family?
I have two really funny kids, both in elementary school. And all of the jobs, animal care, and child rearing is made possible by my partner, Ryan, who is a total smoke show on top of being the best adult human I know.
Do you have any pets at home?
Yes. I have one dog, ten chickens, and two rabbits.
