Resource Specialist

The goal of the program is to surround youth within our community with support, empowering them to thrive in school and life.  Resource Specialists leverage relationships and local/regional resources to produce results and promote success for youth and their families.

Youth and their families may have a hard time accessing and navigating the maze of public and private services.  While there are resources in our community, the Resource Specialists are the connective tissue able to coordinate multiple resources.  This includes building a team of professionals that work together and provide support.  The Resource Specialist coordinates and communicates with the team members to make sure each service is relevant to the overall needs.

Youth Resource Specialists focus on engaging with middle school and high school youth and their families. Family Resource Specialists work with elementary aged children and their families.

All services are confidential and provided free of charge.  Bilingual services are available.

Reasons for requesting resource assistance are as diverse as the youth and families served. Support may be needed because children are experiencing school or academic struggles, family conflict is impacting functioning, or a parent or youth may need emotional and behavioral health support. A youth/family may need help with summer programs, tutors, mentors, or families may have unmet basic/life needs (food, shelter, transportation, internet) and require assistance to get these needs met.

There may also be a need for substance use supports, legal resources, childcare options, or truancy support. Additionally, a Resource Specialist can work with a family in a supportive role to prepare communication points, set goals, and focus on next steps to support Parent/Teacher conferences and other school meetings.
