The Program consists of three parts:
Pre-Conference
- The Facilitator will reach out to the referred youth's parents to schedule an Intake meeting.
- The intake meeting includes the facilitator, providing information about the program, gathering demographics, obtaining contact information, and the signing of releases.
- At the end of the intake meeting, a Conference time and date will be scheduled. Conferences are held the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at 3 pm and 4 pm.
The Conference
- A typical Conference can last anywhere between 1-2 hours.
- By the end of the Conference the youth, parent(s)/caregiver(s), person harmed, and community member(s) will have created a Restorative Agreement. The youth is responsible for completing the Agreement within 90 from the date of the Conference.
- Each youth will be assigned a JJAB Resource Specialist who will help support them through the 90-day agreement timeframe.
Post coNference
- A 30-, 60- and 90-day meeting will be scheduled after the Conference, with the facilitator. These meetings are held to ensure any barriers to agreement completion are addressed and to make sure the youth remains on track to successfully complete his or her agreement.
- The youth has 90 days after their conference to complete the agreement. Once completed, the youth, and family, can choose to continue to work with the Resource Specialist or end participation. Either way a closing meeting will be done to finish paperwork, sign the agreement, and gather feedback. It is the youth’s responsibility to complete all action items assigned.
